Remove the distributor cap and check which plug wire is the closest. That should be #1. You can do this several times until you are sure. Besides being 180 out you could also have the firing order right BUT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. The easiest way to determine rotation is to watch what direction the rotor turns.

Distributor cap should have a #1 on it. That's where you start with the #1 plug wire. Follow the above sequence in a counterclockwise direction.
