I was surprised when I put the XD next to the 36 and the 36 was just a touch thinner. Back to the 30 and XD, I personally like the XD a lot. For 9mm, Glock wins over XD, and in 45 XD wins over Glock. The 19 holds more rounds. I've had the Springfield XD sub 9mm, a Glock 26 and 19. The biggest problem with the 26 is the lack of said a rail (why that's the case is beyond me; it would easily fit), which the XD has. As someone who's had and shot the lot, the grip angle on the XD is more in line with my liking. And the grip safety?The xd is closer in size to the glock 19. It's a strange size, bigger than the 26 but smaller than the 19. The xd also has flush fitting 13 round mags. I've owned xd over the years but always go back to Glock.
