Another way is whenever you fly into a star system and pirates are attacking a freighter, kill pirates, get the reward from the freighter's captian. They always give you a cargo bulkhead + nanites + gold. Cleaning out Derelict freighters is another way. Can choose what reward you want at the end. Cargo Bulkheads or Upgrade Mods.
