Compared to Black D'hide, Karils does give less Melee defence, but it gives more Magic and Ranged Defence. The main use for Karils is Magic Defence and I believe it is the strongest Magic Defence armor without a Melee Attack negative, which is why you might see it used more for Melee than for Ranged.You could practice/simulate fight caves in these worlds without the loss of supplies. I would say the dps increase from the Karil'ls compensates for the loss of prayer from the book (the longer you have to kill magers + have mage pray on the more ppots you use per wave).
